【JLPT N5★The Topic Marker は “wa”】

The topic can be anything that a speaker wants to talk about. A topic marker is a grammatical particle used to mark the topic of a sentence.
The topic marker -wa roughly corresponds to English ‘as for’.

(Example)
私の名前は田中です / わたしの なまえは たなか です / Watasi no namae wa tanaka desu

English: As for my name, (it) is Tanaka. -> My name is Tanaka.   ->   My job is a teacher.

Meaning: topic marker (as for)
Formation: Topic + は + predicate

(4)As for over there, it is a station. / That is a station.
(5)As for night, it is dark. / Night is dark.
(6)As for yesterday, it was cold. / Yesterday was cold.
